June - Ironman Stewarding

HRS Committee members, ride leaders, members, family and friends all turned out to run the cycling foodstation on Chorley New Road on Sunday 8th June for the Bolton IronMan 2025 event. Although there may not have been 101 of us, there were over 30 volunteers dressed as dalmatians. A great time was had by all with a party atmosphere and some great teamwork supporting the amazing athletes taking part in IronMan. See you all next year! Click on the image to view the day

May – Sofa to Sportive

What an incredible journey it’s been!

It feels like only yesterday—back in March—when our rookie roadies took their first pedal strokes into the unknown, fueled by excitement and just a glimpse of the road ahead.

Now, just a few months later, look how far they’ve come. After countless training rides, personal dedication, and sheer determination, these phenomenal cyclists didn’t just complete their 60-mile sportive—they conquered it.

They rode with heart, with grit, and with a spirit that refused to quit. And they crossed that finish line with strength still in reserve and smiles all around. This chapter may be closing, but for these riders, the journey is only just beginning. Armed with experience, resilience, and a new sense of confidence, they’re ready for whatever comes next.

To our HRS Ride Leaders: thank you. This wasn’t just a ride—it was a shared triumph, and your guidance made it unforgettable.

Feeling inspired?

Think you’ve got what it takes to be part of next year’s challenge?

If you’re ready for some tough love coaching and serious camaraderie, drop us an email to register your interest. Spots are limited (max 12 riders), so make it count. The road is calling. Will you answer?

October – 2025 – Glow Ride

What a fantastic evening for our first ever Glow Ride!
Despite the wet and windy lead-up to the event, the spirit of our local cycling community truly shone through.
Several determined ladies joined us for Cycling UKs Glow Ride campaign, bringing light, laughter and a splash of festive magic to the night.
It honestly felt like Christmas had come early – bike and riders alike were decked out in twinkling lights, colourful accessories, and jingling bells.
The energy was infectious as we set off from the retail park, making the most of our local cycle paths and lanes. with our brilliant HRS marshals safely positioned at the entrances and exits, everyone could simply relax and enjoy the glow.
As we rode through the evening, we turned plenty of heads – from pedestrians to passing drivers- spreading smiles and showing how fun, friendly and accessible cycling can be for everyone if we had safer, well lit cycle routes, lanes and paths.
It was a joyful celebration of community, confidence and connection on two wheels. And if this first Glow ride was anything to go by, it’s safe to say it definitely won’t be our last!
A big thanks to @decathlonuk who supported this community ride.

IronMan 2024

Another fabulous day at Boltons annual Ironman event. Our wonderful and supportive HRS members volunteered at one of the run aid stations. A huge thankyou to all involved but especially to Lesley who co-ordinated the whole day. Without all of you, HRS would have been unable to support this event. So again, from the HRS committee, THANKYOU!
